About Pinterest problems

Pinterest problems can show up as a home feed that will not load, pins that cannot be saved or images that stay blank. First reload once and test Pinterest in a private window, because browser extensions and stored cookies can affect the website without affecting the app. If images stay blank on one network only, that network may be filtering Pinterest's image servers.

How this check works

  • One measurement location (single-self-hosted-probe), not a worldwide test.
  • We read only the response headers of the HTTPS homepage; page content and features are not tested.
  • We follow at most 5 HTTPS redirects and check every new address again.
  • The whole check stops after 10 seconds.
  • Results are reused for 60 seconds; this page refreshes its saved check at most every 10 minutes.

Typical Pinterest problems

An editorial list of typical problems, not based on live user reports.

  • Home feed does not load If the Pinterest feed shows an error in both the app and the browser, the problem is likely on Pinterest's side, so wait a while before changing settings. Guide: 503 Service Unavailable
  • Images stay blank Content-blocking extensions can stop Pinterest images or the save button from loading, so test once with extensions paused for pinterest.com. Guide: ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT
  • Pins cannot be saved If saving a pin fails, sign out and back in to Pinterest, because an expired session can block saving even when browsing works.
  • Sign-in keeps looping A Pinterest sign-in that returns to the start page repeatedly can be fixed by deleting the cookies for pinterest.com only. Guide: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS
  • Uploads fail Uploading an image or video pin can break if the connection changes during the upload, so stay on one stable network. Guide: ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED

General fixes: Social media

  1. Update the app Old app versions can stop loading feeds after the service changes. Install pending updates from your app store first.
  2. Compare the app and the website Open the service in a browser and in the app. If only one fails, the problem is in that app or browser, not in your account.
  3. Wait out action limits If likes, follows or posts are blocked for a while, stop and wait. Repeating the action can keep the limit in place longer.
  4. Check for network filters School, work and public networks may block social media. Test on mobile data to see whether the network is the cause.
