Check the Figma status page first, then make sure hardware acceleration is turned on in your browser, because Figma needs WebGL. If files open in the desktop app but not in the browser, a browser setting or extension is the likely cause.

The provider reports what it knows about its own systems, such as sign-in, apps or single regions. A site can answer our check while one feature is broken, and a regional problem can affect one location but not another.

Typical Figma problems

  • Blank canvas or WebGL error Figma needs WebGL, so a blank canvas or WebGL error can mean hardware acceleration is off or the graphics driver needs an update.
  • Multiplayer editing disconnects Figma keeps collaborators in sync over a live connection, so switching networks or unstable Wi-Fi can show a reconnecting banner. Guide: ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED
  • Files stop loading on a company network If Figma files stop loading behind a company proxy or firewall, the live connection may be interrupted there, so test on another network. Guide: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
  • Sign-in keeps looping If figma.com keeps returning to the login page, remove the cookies for figma.com only, and with company single sign-on also check the identity provider's session. Guide: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS
  • Every file shows a server error If every Figma file shows a server error, the problem is likely on Figma's side, so check the Figma status page before changing your setup. Guide: 503 Service Unavailable

General fixes: Productivity

  1. Copy unsaved work first Before you reload a page with recent edits, copy the text you just changed. A reload can discard edits that have not synced yet.
  2. Wait for the saved indicator Productivity apps show when changes are not saved yet. Wait until the app says saved or synced before you close it.
  3. Turn on hardware acceleration Some design and whiteboard tools draw with your graphics chip. If the canvas stays blank, check that hardware acceleration is on in the browser settings.
  4. Separate personal and work accounts Being signed in with a personal and a work account at the same time can open the wrong workspace. Use a separate browser profile for each account.
